Moon Tide Farm's Blog is here!
This looks more like our work list, but I guess that's about all that is on the brain this week - agh! is it the end of APRIL already?!
FARM CHORES this week (so far):
- Get plots at home worked - plowed under, compost spread, cultivated and keep working at operation eradication (couch grass)
- Seeding grass in front of the farm stand and making over the flower pots
- Potting up of squash and tomato transplants today on a biodynamic "fruit" day - more about this later...
- Starting more fennel and celeriac transplants on a biodynamic "root" day earlier in the week
- Joel is digging holes for our new woodshed - hopefully up this week?
- Storms took down our portable storage garage so pulling it out of the alders happened and making a decision about what to do with it now is in order
- Finding new homes for all of our garden and shop tools... and all the other stuff in our garage....
- Planting more spinach, lettuce mix, and bunching onions
- Leveling off ground in front of the chicken coop so we can get the girls outside already!
- SPRING PRONTO PROJECT: Seeing about borrowing our friends' rooster for the ladies' (and ours) benefit for a week or two - looking to breed our meat birds for the season and replacements for the layers. Aren't Barred Rock roosters just about the most handsome thing? We'll cross our Rhode Island Red gals with a Barred Rock rooster and see how it shakes out...
